Created during the height of the Covid pandemic, this sculpture reimagines the myth of Sisyphus as a collective struggle. Long central to Van Alstine's oeuvre, the Sisyphean task here reflects the exhausting effort required to confront a global crisis amid widespread denial of fact and expertise.

By stamping the phrase “The Arc of Covid Is Long – But It Bends Toward Science” directly into the bronze—referencing Martin Luther King Jr.'s reflection on moral justice—Van Alstine makes an uncharacteristically direct statement, asserting that progress depends not on endurance alone, but on a shared commitment to truth.
