History
The Sculpture Garden and Studio are
located on the site of an historic 19 century wood products mill
which played a central role in the personal and economic lives
of the local population. Van Alstine acquired the property in
1987 and has restored the building and surrounding landscape.
The property was awarded the “2000 Adaptive Historic Re-use”
award by AARCH (Adirondack Architectural Heritage Organization)
– a branch of the National Preservation Society. The restored
living space will be featured in an upcoming national broadcast
of reZONED on HGTV (Home and Garden
TV)
