The Broadreach Series and specifically Broadreach III (Red Billow), was inspired by my sailing in the Adirondack. As I understand the term, it is the “run” you make after you have worked hard tacking back and forth and finally reach a point when you can let out the big spinnaker sail (abstractly portrayed in the sculpture by the curving red round element), lean back and “go with the wind”. It is the time to kick back and enjoy the fruits of ones labors. “Millertime!”
