October 1991. Granite, bronze. Dimensions: 110 × 43 × 24 in (279 × 109 × 61 cm).

Collection: American University, Washington, DC

Delta, 1991

Delta continues my interest in combining rough, found stone with metal, allowing the inherent character of each material to remain visible. The curved bronze element joins the two granite forms, bringing weight, balance, and movement into an active relationship.

The title refers directly to the delta-shaped upper stone. Its broad triangular form crowns the sculpture, contrasting with the vertical granite below and the sweeping bronze that connects them.
