The monument is a living memorial to the memory of September 11, 2001. The sculpture heavy with stone, reflecting both the weightiness of the date in American history and the sturdiness of the people’s resolve in confronting the largest attack ever on the nation’s soil.
Every year on September 11, local crowds gather around the Kettering 9-11 Memorial. At solar noon, as the tip of the noon shadow slides across the stainless-steel marker, they collectively and solemnly remember the events of that day.
